The Telugu Association of Southern California celebrated the Vikruti Nama Samvatsaram on March 20th 2009 at the Excelsior High School Auditorium in Norwalk, CA. Around 700 people took part in these grand celebrations. All the attendees were greeted with a traditional serving of the Ugadi Pachadi and sumptuous Andhra food by Vasantha Bhavan, Cerritos, CA.
The program began with a lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guest Hero and Director S.V.Krishna Reddy, Donors Mr Dharma Reddy Gummadi, Mr Lakshman Koka, Mr Nadadur Kumar and their families and the Executive Committee.
The cultural events started with a rendition of the Panchanga Shravanam and Asthalakshmi Stotras. A medley of songs, keerthanas, dramas, folk dances and short plays from the children and youth bought about a thunderous applause from the gallery. Spirited dance performances from the children on the latest Telugu movie hits thrilled the audiences who in turn cheerfully encouraged the children for their youthful exuberance and enthusiasm.
All this was just a precursor to the star attractions of the show - Singer Usha and Singer Vishwa enthralled the audience with many popular musical numbers like "yamaho nee yama andam", "chukkalu temmanna".
Ramesh Maraj's mastery of the Saxophone left many swooning in the audience and repeating "Once More". Kasi Ayasola mesmerized the audiences with his technical virtuosity, youthful grace and control during his Classical dance performance resulting in a rapturous applause and ovation from the crowds.
The President Bharathi Pinninty introduced the Executive Committee - President-Elect Sreekanth Reddy Komatireddy, Past President and Trustee Usha Gorti, Secretary Raju Vedala and Treasurer Vijay Bhaskar Nekkanti and the Chairs and thanked them for their support and commitment to TASC. The Chief Guest Director S.V. Krishna Reddy, Singers Usha and Viswa, Saxophone King Ramesh Maraj and Youth icon Kasi Ayasola were felicitated and honoured by the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee also expressed its appreciation to the cultural chair and MC Mr. Prasad Rani for setting up a wonderful show and for the lively anchoring and to Veera Babu Ambati for his photo and video coverage of the event and expressed their sincere thanks to the entire team of volunteers, organizing committee, chairs, participants and the teachers for making the program a grand success.
